The world is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. With the rapid evolution of AI, a once-unimaginable future is becoming reality before our eyes. As expectations rise for a more convenient and creative society, one of the greatest challenges remains: how to collect, manage, and utilize the “training data” that fuels AI’s advancement.
Vast amounts of data still lie dormant in the hands of individuals, corporations, and governmentsーunprocessed, unlicensed, and underutilized. Yet we believe that data is the key to unlocking new realms of creativity.
Guided by our mission, Unlocking the potential of all data, Visual Bank is building next-generation training data libraries that empower innovation. We organize Japan’s invaluable industrial data and connect it directly to creators at the frontlines. By delivering safe, optimized, and immediately usable training data, we set new standards for responsible utilization, driving not only AI development but also broader technological progress.

Researcher, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)

Shoma Akamatsu

Graduated in engineering at Tohoku University, specializing in quantum spintronics magnetic sensors. He conducted six years of research before joining MIT as a visiting researcher in 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in engineering in 2024 and continued applied research at AIST, focusing on real-world deployment of magnetic sensors.
Alongside his academic career, he worked with startups at Tohoku University and MIT, gaining practical expertise in machine learning, signal processing, circuit design, and simulation. In January 2024, he joined Visual Bank Inc. leading the AI Development.

Ippei Mochizuki

Graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law and spent six years in investment banking at SMBC Nikko Securities, advising on M&A and fundraising across industries ranging from traditional sectors to advanced technology.
He joined Visual Bank in August 2022, where he led AI ethics and policy initiatives, drove the growth of Qlean Dataset, and oversaw the Visual Library business. In May 2024, he was appointed Representative Director of Amanaimages Inc.
He also served on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s committee for the ‘Generative AI Utilization Guidebook for Content Creation’.

Executive Director & Co-Founder

Fumitaka Iizuka

Graduated from Keio University in 2012 and began a career at Mitsubishi Corporation, spending nine years in the Mobility Division with a focus on trading, investment management, and cross-border business operations. During his secondment to the Indonesia subsidiary, he led multiple business units and contributed to major restructuring initiatives. He returned to Tokyo in 2019 to manage Mitsubishi Corporation’s automotive investments across Southeast Asia.
In 2022, he co-founded Visual Bank Inc., and in June 2025, led the establishment of THE PEN INC., an IP × AI enabler in the creative IP sector.

Saneyuki Nagai

After graduating from Waseda University in 2012, Nagai began his career at Mizuho Securities and Deutsche Securities before joining SMBC Nikko Securities in 2016. He later transferred to SMBC Nikko Securities America in New York, where he advised on startup investments and M&A. Over a decade in banking, he supported fundraising, IPOs, and M&A for both Japanese and global enterprises. He co-founded Visual Bank Inc, as Director, and was appointed CEO in May 2024.
